INTRODUCTION ABOUT ME

Hi DVD Trader.
My name is Laurence and I'm from the UK and collect music video footage. I did a lot of world-wide trading of video tapes with people in Europe and America from 1984 - 1994. I bought a world-wide video recorder  so I could tape in the same format (NTSC) with traders in America.

I was also lucky to have a very good friend who owned a video recorder from May 1979 in which he taped many music programmes here in the UK like Top Of The Pops, Something Else, Old Grey Whistle Test among many others etc. He has lent me has master tapes which I taped and have now put to DVD, great footage which you won’t find any better.

Please note

Everything on this list is available for trading. I can’t understand why people put items on their

list as “Rare item, not for trade” . Why put it on the list then? I don’t know if it’s some kind of ego  or something and yes I’ve been given shows by the person who doesn’t want them going out and I respect that persons wishes so I don’t put them on my lists at all.

I'm always putting material to DVD but it's a very long process as I've so much stuff, but I am getting through it.  I didn't really didn’t intend to trade again as I thought I had most stuff that I wanted but there seems to be a lot new material coming into circulation and in excellent quality which wasn't around in the mid eighties, and also seems to be a lot  of great quality upgrades coming out now.

I'm mainly into the UK/US late seventies punk/new wave but I have a wide taste in music from the 1960's to present although not really that much from the past 10 years or so.

If you trade (Sorry DVD only) please let me know by sending me your up to date lists. I do have a lot of excellent quality rare footage with many are from masters.

My tastes in music are varied, of which I like the following and have some footage by'.

1960's
The Who, The Beatles, Small Faces, The Byrds, The Creation.

Early 1970's
Bowie, The Sweet, The Who.

Punk/New Wave
This is my main interest and like most of these bands.
The Adverts, Generation X, Damned, Clash, Ramones, Ruts, SLF, Magazine, Penetration, Rich Kids etc etc.

Indie/Alternative
Primal Scream (1st LP), Mega City 4, Senseless Things, Elastica, Manic Street Preachers (1st LP), Mighty Lemon Drops, My Bloody Valentine (Pre-Creation), Northern Upproar, Oasis, Teenage Fan Club, Revolver, Swervedriver, 3 Colours Red, The Wildhearts.

Grunge
Buffalo Tom, Lemonheads, The Muffs, Everclear, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Midway Still, Paw, Early REM. Gods Eye.

Punk/Hardcore
Dag Nasty, All, Descendents, Down By Lay, Snuff, Green Day, Blink 182, Misfits, Dead Kennedy’s, China Drum, Bad Religion, Bad Brains, No Use For A Name, Husker Du,

Guns 'N' Wankers, Moving Targets, Blink 182 etc

QUALITY GRADES
10: - Master tape only, perfect picture and sound.

9: - Excellent Quality. The first copy from master tape.

8+ - Very Good Quality. 3rd/4th copy, slight noticeable loss in quality.

8: - Good Quality. Obviously copied a fair few times but generally good quality.

7: - Fair. Obviously copied a lot and noticeable loss in quality, probably as not bad as you think though as it‘s pretty comfortable to watch.

6: - Watch able. This will be rare material, possibly some picture breaks ups and most
probably impossible to find in good quality, so it's this or nothing at all.

5: - Poor. Poor Quality and for collectors and die hard fans only.

Above is a grading system which I used when I traded videos from 1984 until 1994 which will help you get a rough idea the quality of my DVD’s.

Grading is pretty difficult as people obviously grade differently, but I think I’m pretty accurate and fair, but being human I can make mistakes. I feel once you’ve seen one of my DVD’s which includes various quality items you’ll get a good idea what to expect on future items.

You will find a lot of excellent quality early UK punk footage amongst my DVD’s, this is because I have a fair bit of stuff which was record straight from the TV at the time (79 - 81) by my friend which I have made copies of so you won’t find better.

Any UK/TV footage taped after September 2003 will be recorded in digital straight from TV to the hard drive of the DVD recorder, so A1 perfect.

RECORDING EQUIPMENT USED
Panasonic NV-W1 world-wide video recorder to play video tapes. This machine plays/records and video tapes to play in PAL, so all original NTSC videos have been converted to PAL. I use this player to play, and then record to DVD recorder.

DVD RECORDERS

September 2004 - July 2007 Panasonic DMR-E85
July 2007 - Present Panasonic DMR-EX87

All discs I record myself are first recorded on the stand alone Panasonic recorder with full menus and chapters. I then make duplicates when I trade through the PC to make all discs region 0.

A FEW RULES I LIKE TO STICK BY
1: Please don’t record above SP (short Play) mode. Discs are cheap there is no reason to record in Long Play or above as the quality will be crap. Quality, NOT Quantity.

2: Please do not record from standalone player to standalone DVD recorder. This is not the way to get the best results.

3: Traders lists must have quality grades, times and source details where known. I'm not interested in looking at lists that give no information whatsoever, i.e. "The Damned: Great Compilation" (what's on it, what's the quality?)  These lists will be just ignored and no trade will happen. Any serious traders then this is just standard.

4: I'm not interested in VCD's. Don't ask me to do you DVD's if I don't need anything from you for a trade.

5: Please don't ask "if I send you some blank DVD's & postage will you record some DVD's for me". I know we all have to start somewhere as I did the same back in the early eighties but I just don't have the time for this.

DISCS USED
I like to use Verbatim or Titanium discs which I’ve had no problems with but please don’t use cheap unknown brand discs as I will only send them back and I won’t bother trading.
Prefer to keep away from TDK as I’ve just had problems with these discs sticking/freezing up.

If you use printable discs please leave them blank as I can print on these discs myself.

Please send discs {no cases} in plastic pvc sleeve’s or similar and well packed so they don’t get damaged through the post.

HOW MANY DISC TRADES

I like to try and stick to no more than five disc trades at a time.

COVER ARTWORK
I do make up colour artwork covers for my DVD’s so if you have any artwork for any DVD’s we trade I would
appreciate that you send it through in an email for me to download. I can send you covers through of the DVD’s you may want from me.
